Candiria

Seminal New York eclectic rock act Candiria have been awarded a massive compensation settlement, pending appeal, for injuries and suffering they experienced after a near fatal road accident while on tour in the US on Sept 9 2002.

Headed for Cleveland, Candiria were rear-ended by 18 wheel tractor trailer which completely disintergrated the bands equipment trailer and ploughed on, into the back of their van, flipping it for almost 100 yards before stopping, jettisoning band members through windows and doors in the process. As a result of the accident all members of Candiria were hospitalised with critical injuries. The band was placed on hiatus for two years until the recording and eventual release of the storming new record, 'What Doesn't Kill You...Only Makes You Stronger', due for European release on Earache on May 23.

The estimated total of the award is rumoured to be in the region of $29 million. Its is unclear at this stage when the band will receive their compensation.
