Brooks & Dunn - You Can't Take The Honky Tonk Out Of The Girl solo guitar tab
I have included three versions of the guitar solo.
I like to play it up high on the neck so I've
included that one. For those who like the sound of
it a little bit lower, I also dropped it an octave
and included that one too. If you wanna use a slide
on it, I tabbed it that way too. If you need an
extra fill around the sax solo parts, everything is
based around the F major scale. This solo was based
more on chord changes, but the scale will do the
job too :P Sometimes I combine both the higher octave
and lower octave solos and just climb down from the
higher part and go right in to the lower to cover where
the sax part is.
The way I play it is as follows
(with Chord Changes shown above tab):
F C
E------------20------------------15----------------|
B-------20b22--22r20-18-----15b17--17r15-13--------|
G--------------------------------------------------|
D--------------------------------------------------|
A--------------------------------------------------|
E--------------------------------------------------|
Bb F
E---------13---------------13-13------13-13---------------|
B----13b15--15r13-11--13b15------13b15------15b13-11------|
G----------------------------------------------------13-10|
D---------------------------------------------------------|
A---------------------------------------------------------|
E---------------------------------------------------------|
Same Solo Played an Octave Lower:
F C
E----------------------------------------|
B--------13----------------8-------------|
G---12b14--14r12-10-----7b9-9r7-5--------|
D----------------------------------------|
A----------------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------|
Bb F
E----------------------------------------|
B-------6----------6-6-----6-6-----------|
G----5b7-7r5-3--5b7-----5b7----7r5-3-----|
D------------------------------------6-3-|
A----------------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------|
When using a slide on this, the easiest way would be
to tune the second string down a half step
(tuning = E A D G Bb E). That way when you slide
up to your furthest position on the G string during
the solo, the next note is right underneath it on
the string below (on the Bb String).
