R&B Star Brian McKnight Set for Broadway Debut in Chicago
R&B/soul superstar Brian McKnight will join the Broadway company of Chicago as slick lawyer Billy Flynn for a six-week limited engagement, October 8 through November 18, at the Ambassador Theatre. Billy Flynn was previously played by Usher but the two-month engagement came to an abrupt end in October after the caught up singer fell ill. Prior to Broadway, McKnight will perform the role with the Chicago national touring company from September 25 through October 7 at Washington D.C.'s Warner Theatre. McKnight is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, arranger and producer with seven platinum or multi-platinum recordings to his credit, including the Grammy-nominated “Anytime” (1997), which sold more than two million copies, and Back at One (1999), which sold more than three million copies. His hit singles include "One Last Cry," "You Should Be Mine," "The Way Love Goes," "Love Is" (with Vanessa Williams) and "Back at One," which reached number one on the Billboard 100 charts in 2000. His most recent album, Ten, was released in 2006. McKnight is currently the co-host of "The Brian McKnight Morning Show" on KTWV The Wave, a Los Angeles-based smooth jazz radio station.
