The worlds largest record company has to pay an un-recoupable advance after being accused of radio kickbacks. New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer announced Thursday that Universal Music Group has agreed to a $12 million settlement in the payola case against the company, which stated that the label gave vacations, electronics and other bribes to radio stations to ensure airtime for artists such as Brian McKnight, Ashlee Simpson, and Lindsay Lohan. The accusation also states that UMG of used interns, employees and outside vendors through its Island Def Jam label to pose as listeners and request UMG songs. Ashanti?s, ?Rain on Me? and Ludacris?s, "Stand Up" were among the songs.

The $12 million is going to the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, which will allocate the money out to various nonprofit organizations.
