Key: A major
Sorry if this isn't very clear but I'm not sure of a better way to write music out for piano that is easily readable. I've seen a few different ways but they all sucked and were really hard to follow, so I'll do it like this and if anyone needs any help with it please e-mail at brown_daniel@bellsouth.net
I plan to notate everything and save it as a pdf file so that it could be opened with acrobat or something. If anyone would want me do do it like that please let me know and I will try to get to it very soon.
These are all the same chords played on guitar also. For playing the acoustic parts I would capo at the second fret and play in the key of G (EX.. instead of A play G, E/G# play D/F#, f#m play em, E play D, D play C, Etc........................................
For the electric parts you don't have to do this because they are played as bar chords. I just like to use open chords on an acoustic.
To play this on piano just play the bass note and the fifth of the chord in the left until it starts to sound to muddy, then you need to spread out a little further and play octaves with your left hand.
For the right hand hold three notes and invert chords when you can to keep it from sounding too muddy, just use your own ear to judge. There are several added and augmented notes but it is hard to indicate that without sheet music so just add notes next to the chord, play in broken chords, and keep all the added notes in the key of A major (A,b,c#,D,E,f#,g#,A) and nothing you do will really sound wrong, just slightly different. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!
Rhythm figure 1
A-E/G#-f#m-E-D
Play twice as intro
A E/G# f#m E D
I paved this road I broke myself into this I know
Up and down In between There's nothing I haven't seen
Rhythm figure 2
D-A-E/G#
D A E/G#
All these scares which bare my name
My eyes are white And nothings the same yeah
I tried to run but the damage is done yeah
(here finish out as in figure 1 -after E/G# play f#m-E-D)
The damage is done
The damage is done
Verse II
Where I've gone and where I've been Lord only knows
One more mountain One more mile I'll do as I'm told
All these scares which bare my name
My eyes are white
And nothings the same yeah
I tried to run but the damage is done yeah
The damage is done
A-E/G#-D
A E/G# D
Oh yeah oh yeah
D
The damage is done
Play this 4 times
Then play figure 1 twice
'
Solo
Play figure 1 twice
At the end hold an A chord and go into rhythm fig 2
And everything repeats till the end.
Experiment and be very free with this on the piano. Play the right chords with the right bass notes and the song will be right. It is easy to
have your own style with piano, Zakk plays very lightly, where I tend to really fill out the chords. With other instruments playing lightly keeps everything clean, but when a play this I really like to fill everything out to make it sound as full as I can without it sounding muddy.
