Beyonce Headed to The Grammy Awards Despite Writers Strike

Beyonce

R&B singer Beyoncé said Thursday she will attend the Grammy Awards on Feb. 10 in the wake of the Writers Guild of America strike. The Recording Academy, which organizes the event, issued a statement Thursday quoting Beyonce confirming her attendance at the event, scheduled for Feb. 10 in Los Angeles. "The work of The Recording Academy is vital to the music industry, and we have every intention of being with the entire music community to celebrate the Grammy's 50th birthday in February," said music manager Mathew Knowles. "Beyonce, as well as my other artists, Solange and Trinitee 5:7, have been asked to participate and will do so. We have an incredible Beyonce performance that will be announced soon. We wish the Grammys the best." The Writers Guild of America has said it will picket the awards ceremony and ask Screen Actors Guild members to boycott the show as well. Like Beyoncé, many music stars are also actors.
