Ashanti Goes To Court For Case Against T.E.A.M.

R&B Singer Ashanti began proceedings for her case against T.E.A.M. Entertainment in the New York City Federal Courthouse today (Sept. 18).

According to Vibe, The hearing is a retrial of a case initially tried in July 2005, in which T.E.A.M. Entertainment sued the singer based on a contract that Ashanti signed with the company when she was 17-years-old.

Although the first jury found there was a breach of contract, the judge reduced the award of damages based on the evidence being extremely speculative.

Despite Ashanti never releasing a record to the public under T.E.A.M's production, T.E.A.M. now claims it is entitled to "lost royalties" and "lost opportunities".
