British police have found no evidence that R&B singer Amy Winehouse was involved in a plot to bribe an alleged assault victim to drop his claims against her husband. Winehouse was arrested and questioned last month for allegedly helping her husband Blake Fielder-Civil try to pay a barman, whom he allegedly beat, nearly $400,000 to change his testimony. Fielder-Civil currently in jail, is charged with assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in connection with the case. "The evidence-building is purely circumstantial at this stage and is not enough to charge Amy with anything," a Crown Prosecution Service source told Britain's News of the World. "If she did give money to her husband, this is not a criminal offense and is not enough to prove she was involved in a conspiracy. Unless new evidence comes to light, it is likely the case against her will be dropped." Fielder-Civil was placed in solitary confinement for several days after he was caught drinking and making calls on a banned cell phone, the newspaper said. "He's distraught," said Fielder-Civil's recently released cell-mate. "He's worried about the impact it will have on his relationship with Amy."
