Amy Winehouse Arrested Over Involvement In Husband's Bribery Conspiracy
Troubled R&B singer Amy Winehouse has been arrested on suspicion of bribing a witness and tampering with a police investigation, the U.K.'s Daily Mail reports. Police would not confirm that they had taken the "Rehab" singer into custody, but did say a 24-year-old was arrested following an appointment at a police station in connection with an investigation into preventing the course of justice. Winehouse's drug-addled husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is currently in custody waiting trail on assault charges and allegations he attempted to interfere with a witness in the case. Reports surfaced over the weekend suggesting Winehouse might be called in for questioning about her husband's case and that there was a chance she would be arrested for her suspected role in the alleged witness-tampering incident. Winehouse arrived at the Shoreditch police station in east London to be interviewed, fingerprinted and DNA tested earlier today, and was presumably arrested afterward, according to the Daily Mail. Fielder-Civil was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on barman James King, but it's alleged he conspired with two other men to bribe King with £200,000 to drop the complaint. Being that Fielder-Civil is a professional junkie and not much else, the substantial amount of the bribe likely turned police onto Winehouse. The news comes on the heels of Winehouse's six Grammy nominations, including an Album of the Year nod for Back to Black.
