R&B singer Akon’s legal troubles might be catching up to him. Or is it catching up to his fans? The Immigration Minister of Australia has demanded more information from Akon and hip hop artist The Game before they are allowed to tour the continent next month. Minister Kevin Andrews raised concerns about Akon and The Game, who are headlining the "Roc tha Block" concert on August 11 at Vodafone Arena, saying each has a lengthy rap sheet, which includes jail time and other outstanding charges. The minister's intervention -- which has the backing high powered groups -- raises the prospect of a ban similar to that put on rapper Snoop Dogg, who was denied a visa in April. "To be able to come into the country they would need a visa and this is not assured at this stage," saif Ms Walshe, a spokeswoman for the minister. Concert promoter Dwayne Cross said Akon's application would be lodged by Monday. Thousands of fans who have already bought tickets could be left disappointed if a ban is enforced on the stars but Mr Cross said he would think about postponing the tour if there were problems in obtaining visas.
