Akon Concert Promoters Respond To Alleged 'Fan Assault' Video
A recent video of Akon uploaded to the net this week was altered according to concert promoters in South America. As previously reported on Singersroom, Akon allegedly assaulted two female fans who had climbed onstage during a performance in Guyana last week which led to a much-hyped video depicting the incident late this week. According to concert promoters, the video and subsequent stories surrounding it are far from true. In a statement exclusively obtained by Singersroom today, the Hits and Jams Entertainment promoters state: "We are shocked to hear that there is a video clip circulating that suggests Akon treated a fan badly during his August 30th performance in Guyana. There were no incident reports stemming from the event. Despite a late start, the concert was a tremendous success and we hope that Akon will come back soon." According to sources close to Akon's team, the video was edited as it does not show the star struggling to stand up onstage after crowd surfing. The struggle ends with the singer stumbling to his feet knocking one fan down and embracing the other with a hug once he is stable on his feet. In related news, the Konvict labelhead recently signed Queens, New York native R&B singer Robbie Nova.
